Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide inhalation allows patients to be more relaxed during basic dental procedures. You will breathe in oxygen and nitrous resulting in a minimal level of sedation. Patients can drive and return to work shortly after their dental procedure.

Oral Sedation
Patients take a medication prior to their appointment to allow for a more relaxed level of sedation. Typically a medication is given to take the night before your dental procedure to aid in sleep and one is taken one hour prior to your appointment. You must have a responsible driver take you to and from your appointment.

IV Sedation
This level of sedation makes patients the most comfortable and relaxed. During this procedure, drugs are administered into the bloodstream, demising your state of consciousness. This can also help with post operative reduction in pain and swelling. You must have a responsible driver and will need to refrain from work for 24 hours after the procedure.
Can you return to work or school after receiving IV sedation?
Patients who are put under IV sedation should not return to their normal routines for approximately 24 hours post-treatment. Instead, they should make a plan to have a friend or family member wait in our lobby for the duration of their treatment to drive them home afterward. It’s a good idea to have a few books, movies, or video games picked out to enjoy during your recovery, as well as some soft foods if you are undergoing an advanced restorative treatment.
Is IV sedation safe?
